Flying once again

This is the plane David is flying!
It looks about this big in person too (if you were wondering).

This single-engine, two-seat plane is called the T-6 Texan II. David sits in front and the Instructor Pilot sits in the back. He will learn the basic flying maneuvers in this plane for the next few months.

The T-6A has a Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-68 turbo-prop engine that delivers 1,100 horsepower. Because of its excellent thrust-to-weight ratio, the aircraft can perform an initial climb of 3,300 feet (1,006 meters) per minute and can reach 18,000 feet (5,486.4 meters) in less than six minutes.

Primary Function: Primary trainer in joint specialized undergraduate pilot training
Wingspan: 33.5 feet (10.19 meters)
Length: 33.4 feet (10.16 meters)
Height: 10.7 feet (3.23 meters)
Speed: 350 miles per hour
Standard Basic Empty Weight: 4,900 pounds (2,222.6 kilograms)
Date Deployed: May 2000
Unit Cost: $4.5 million
Inventory: Active force, 372 aircraft by 2010 (current acquisition plans)

David started off in the flight simulator during Phase One and will still have a few computer simulated missions to accomplish during his current Phase Two.
