Yesterday David and I went out with an old buddy and some new friends to a nice Mexican food joint. Being only 3 miles from the Mexico boarder it was imperative that we had traditional Mexican food within 48 hours of arrival.
I've really been enjoying the Air Force base atmosphere, what I've seen so far, and I’m excited for our stay. Hardly a minute goes by when I don't hear the engine of an airplane flying over. I'm excited for that to be David in those planes. I learned yesterday that every evening at 1700 I get to hear the trumpet sound the retreat followed by National Anthem, and then at 2200 Taps plays. My first few days have been filled with learning expectations and experiencing a piece of true military life. I think we’ll enjoy our stay at Laughlin.

Retreat Ceremony:
The retreat ceremony serves a twofold purpose. It signals the end of the official duty day and serves as a ceremony for paying respect to the flag. Because the time for the end of the duty day varies, the commander designates the specific time for the retreat ceremony.
