I found a really neat website that gives a virtual tour of life on base. For those who have been on base it might not seem very cool but for family and friends keeping in touch it's a glimpse of where we're heading. Click the picture, wait for each thumbnail to load, and then scroll the red bar above (left to right) to see all the places on base.
March 19th is our IFS (click or defined below) date where we will be heading to Colorado for the first part of the long road of David becoming a Pilot. Since we will report to Laughlin Air Force Base right after IFS is completed we will move in February-ish to Laughlin in Del Rio, Texas and set up "home". Then after IFS is over we will have a smooth transition to Texas with little stress since we will be completely moved already.
Once we're at Laughlin David will start UPT (click or defined below). After 52 weeks we will receive our first assignment including the plane he will fly for his career and the first unit he'll start out in.
IFS- Initial Flight Screening: fast paced aviation course
UPT- Undergrad Pilot Training: extremely time consuming and fast paced course which will result in his first assignment.
